Ummmmmm, have I mentioned the ren faire yet?
All of my friends are very mad at me because I will not shut up about the ren faire. And to further extend this yapping, I am yapping here.
I've only been to the ren faire once before, but it was so much fun. I spent wayyyy to much money, but I met so many cool people and got to see so many fun things!
There are a lot of areas in my life where I'm surronded by normies, and I'm very excited to go somewhere that is just weirdo, even it's for a day. Huzzah!
Also my costume this year is so much better than last year, last year my costume was like a kinda puffy dress shirt and some pants from Amazon :( BUT THIS YEAR WE ARE GOING ALL OUT!! I got a better shirt this year, that is much poofier. Although, it was like bleach white so I coffee dyed it a bit to make it more pirate-y.
AND THATS NOT EVEN THE START OF THE DIY BRO!
- I dyed a pink scarf (twice) to make it black, but it ended up kind of purple, which I'm okay with cuz it matches the vest.
- Cut the sleeves off an old dress shirt to make a vest, and then did some shmancy embroidery on the side to cover up the old button holes.
- Embroideried some old bias tape, to make leg wrap thingies, and then coffee dyed them so they were more of the same color.
- Altered my pants from last year, cuz I have significantly beefier calves and thighs now. I might add some more to these later.
- Made some alterations to a trench coat, to make it more pirate-y. I removed some goofy straps and the waistband that tied around the middle. I thought about re-dyeing, but it's kinda a nice forest green. AND I found out that the lining is removable, so I won't be dying of heat stroke!
- Added some feathers to my pirate hat. A snipped turkey feather, and a pheasant hen that I found earlier this spring. They've been sitting under my sun visor in my car waiting for this occasion.
I'll try to include a picture of me once I put the whole outfit together.
I still have a bit of work to do before I'm ready, but even if my costume isn't perfect, I'm still going to have a lot of FUN!!!
My goals for this ren faire visit include:
- Buy a fancy mug thing that I can hopefully attach to my belt.
- Buy more food than I did last year. Last year I spent all my money on trinkets and didn't get any lunch :(
- Maybe get some new scarves? I've been collecting scarves recently, but the ones at the ren faire are probably way too expensive.
- Take some pictures with some cool people in cool costumes
My friends are ready for the ren faire to be over just so I shut up about. Speaking of which, apparently none of my friends enjoy the ren faire? Like we almost didn't go cause they don't enjoy it a lot. I would have just gone without them, but it kinda makes me sad that they don't have as much fun as I do. Like, you guys are definition losers, what do you mean you don't enjoy the ren faire?
I'll be waking up at 5 tomorrow, to get ready and drive there. I'll update you guys later.
Peace.
